About Engraving

Engraving is the process used to remove material from a surface with the intent of creating script or image. The processes we use to engrave tags vary slightly depending on the material engraved. For example, metals such as brass, aluminum or stainless steel can be engraved with diamond via a CNC engraver or laser. Plastics too can be engraved with laser but for most purposes a carbide router bit mounted to a CNC engraver is employed. Each process creates a clear and legible engraved tag but each also has its own distinct look and feel.

We offer a variety of materials for engraving that can be chosen on the basis of application, environment or aesthetics.

Stainless Steel can be cut to the size of your choice and is offered with square, rounded, scalloped or notched corners. The tags can be ordered with screw holes for mounting. Stainless steel tags can be engraved using a variety of available fonts. Click on the link below for more information about Stainless Steel.

Brass and Aluminum tags can also be cut to custom specifications. While not quite as durable as stainless steel, brass and aluminum tags are often chosen on the basis of aesthetics and are, more often than not, found to be the best combination between form and function. These tags are offered with or without mounting holes and in your choice of colors and natural finishes.

Plastics can be ordered in any variety of shapes, sizes and colors. These tags are most frequently used in industrial settings and chosen on the basis of price and durability. Plastics are made of a flexible modified acrylic and are UV resistant.

Anodized Aluminum involves immersing the aluminum in a chemical bath and applying an electrical current to it, causing oxide to be produced from the resulting rust on the aluminum. This layer of oxide hardens the aluminum and creates a protective coating that makes it resistant to corrosion.
